FAQ

What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is a fun, challenging mix of workouts that include weightlifting, cardio, and bodyweight exercises. It’s designed to help you get fitter, stronger, and healthier, no matter your current fitness level. Everything can be adjusted to meet your needs, so it’s for everyone!

Do I need to be fit to start?

Not at all! CrossFit is for everyone, whether you’re a complete beginner or have experience. Our BaseCamp program is the best way to start. It’s a three-session course where we teach you the basics, build your confidence, and get you ready for classes.

What happens in a CrossFit class?

Each class includes:

  1. A warm-up to get you moving.

  2. Skill or strength work to build technique and strength.

  3. A Workout of the Day (WOD) that combines different exercises to challenge you.

Classes are coach-led and designed to be fun, supportive, and tailored to your ability.

How long are the classes?

Each class lasts about 60 minutes.

Will I get injured?

CrossFit is safe when done with proper guidance, and our coaches are here to help you move well and avoid injury. We focus on good technique and scaling movements so you can train safely and progress at your own pace.

How often should I do CrossFit?

If you’re new, 2–3 classes a week is a great start. As you get stronger and more confident, you can increase the frequency based on your goals and recovery.

What do I need to bring?

Just yourself, comfortable workout clothes, and a water bottle. If you have specific gear (like weightlifting shoes), feel free to bring it, but it’s not necessary for beginners.

What if I can’t do a movement?

No problem! Every movement in CrossFit can be scaled or modified. Our coaches will help you find an option that works for you, whether it’s a simpler version of the movement or a completely different one that targets the same goal.

What should I eat to support my training?

Eating balanced meals with lean protein, veggies, healthy fats, and some carbs will help you recover and perform your best. If you need guidance, our coaches can help you develop a simple nutrition plan.

What’s the community like?

The community at CrossFit 1864 is one of a kind! We’re supportive, friendly, and always cheering each other on. Whether it’s your first class or your hundredth, you’ll feel welcome here.
